Vic Firth American Classic 5A Dual Tone Mallet Sticks, Felt Butt End
The Vic Firth American Classic 5A Dual Tone is a hickory 5A stick that carries a tough synthetic felt ball at the other end. Play one side like a regular stick, then flip it to swell a cymbal or round off the drums.
What sets it apart
- Synthetic felt ball on the butt end
- Wood teardrop tip on the stick side
- Change sounds with a turn of the hand
Two tools in one hand
In a ballad or a concert piece, a mallet cymbal swell often lands in the middle of a passage played with sticks. Putting the sticks down, grabbing mallets and switching back is where the tempo tends to drift. With the Dual Tone, you just flip the stick. On the felt side, toms and snare also take on a warmer tone without the click of the tip.
