Zildjian

The A Ultra Hammered China 19" is a trashy china cymbal, brighter and shorter than its 21" big sister. It suits the drummer who wants the eruption of a hammered china without the long tail of a large diameter: the accent hits, roars for a moment, then gets out of the way.

What sets it apart

  • Inverted volcano bell and extensive hammering
  • Brighter and shorter than the 21" version
  • High definition, rated 9 out of 10 by Zildjian
  • Sensitive at every dynamic, from a whisper to a full hit

What the 19" changes

Zildjian says it plainly: the 19" gives a brighter sound and a shorter decay, the 21" a heavier explosion. The Sound Lab shows the gap: brightness of 4 against 3, sustain of 7 against 8. On a kit already crowded with cymbals, this china fits in without covering the crashes next to it.

The curvature, designed to project, and the very extensive hammering keep all of the line's trashy character.

Frequently asked questions

Which way up does a china cymbal go?
A china is often mounted upside down, bell down and upturned edge facing up: that way you strike the flange directly. Try both ways; the sound changes clearly.
Ultra Hammered 19" or 21"?
The 19" is brighter and shorter; the 21" lower and more massive. Pick the 19" if the china has to stay an accent, the 21" if it has to fill the room.
What is the best china cymbal?
The one that fits your music. A high china cuts, a low china roars. This one sits on the trashy, powerful side, without the length of a 21".
