Zildjian FX Trash Splash 9" Effects Splash Cymbal
The FX Trash Splash 9" is a small, very thin effects cymbal with a short, dry, "trashy" sound. It gives the kit a noise regular cymbals do not make: a dirty, brief snap that punctuates an accent or stacks on another cymbal to create a new sound.
What sets it apart
- Exotic trashy effect, short and dry
- Paper thin weight for an instant response
- Excellent cymbal to stack on another
- Brightness of 9 out of 10 according to Zildjian
On its own or stacked
Zildjian presents it two ways. On its own, it is a full effects voice, made for punctuated accents. Stacked on another cymbal, it becomes a "stack": the two discs touch and produce a shorter, drier sound, often close to an electronic clap. At 9", it sits on a splash, a small crash or a china.
Zildjian also offers it in 11"; the 9" is the more discreet of the two, the easiest to slip onto a cymbal that is already set up.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a cymbal stack?
- Two or more cymbals stacked on the same rod. As they touch, they choke each other and give a short, dry sound. Zildjian designs its Trash Splashes precisely for that use.
- How do you stack cymbals?
- Put the larger cymbal at the bottom, then this Trash Splash on top, with or without a felt between them. The tighter you go, the shorter the sound; loosened, it sizzles more.
- Splash or china?
- A classic splash gives a pure, bright accent. This Trash Splash borrows the china's dirty character: it sits in between, small like a splash, rough like a china.
