Zildjian FX Zil-Bel 6" Small Effects Bell
The FX Zil-Bel 6" is a small effects bell in heavy metal, with a clear, high, cutting sound that sings long after the stroke. It gives the kit a clean bell note, impossible to get from a ride, for accents and effect patterns.
What sets it apart
- Clear, cutting, linear bell sound
- Small 6" shape for a bright, high-pitched tone
- Long, singing sustain
- Mounts on its own stand or upside down on a cymbal
A bell, not a cymbal
On Zildjian's Sound Lab, the 6" Zil-Bel reaches the maximum for brightness and definition (10 out of 10) and almost the maximum for sustain (9). In other words: a pure, very high note that carries far. Its heavy weight gives it that firm attack.
Zildjian suggests two setups: on a separate cymbal stand, or set upside down on another cymbal, which adds more colours to its tone.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a bell cymbal?
- A small, thick bell-shaped disc that gives a clear, sustained note rather than a wash. You play it with the tip of the stick for patterns or accents.
- How do you mount a Zil-Bel?
- Zildjian allows two ways: on its own cymbal stand, or set upside down on another cymbal. The second option saves a stand and blends the two sounds.
- Does an effects bell work for metal?
- Yes: its piercing attack gets through distorted guitars, and its high note stands out right away in a fast pattern.
