The A Custom Fast Crash 14" is a small, brilliant finish crash cymbal, the most sparkling of its family, that dies away almost at once. It is for lightning accents: a burst of colour that appears and vanishes without leaving a trace in the music.

A flash of colour

The 14" is the smallest A Custom Fast Crash, offered from 14" to 18". On the Sound Lab, it reaches the maximum for brightness (10) and the minimum for sustain (2): an accent that bursts then goes silent. Where an 18" crash would leave a tail, this one punctuates and immediately frees the space for what comes next.

What is a fast crash?
A crash designed to die away quickly after the attack. At Zildjian, the A Custom Fast Crash is slightly thinner than the A Custom Crash, with an extremely short decay.
14" Fast Crash: A Custom or A series?
Both are very short (sustain 2 on the Sound Lab). The A Custom is one notch brighter (10 against 9) and adds the brilliant finish; the A Fast Crash keeps the more direct character of the A series.
Can a 14" crash replace a splash?
Not quite. A splash gives a smaller, drier accent; this 14" crash keeps more colour and body, while fading almost as quickly.
