Zildjian A Custom 20" EFX Effects Crash Cymbal
The A Custom 20" EFX is the largest effects crash in the EFX range: a big, bright disc with laser-cut openings and a dry, wide wash. It suits the heavy-music drummer who wants an effect as present as a large crash, without the long tail of a china.
What sets it apart
- The largest diameter in the A Custom EFX range
- Definition and sustain rated 9 out of 10 by Zildjian
- Dry, agitated sound with an immediate attack
- Brilliant finish matched to other A Customs
A large-format effect
At 20", the EFX changes scale. Its brightness drops to 5 out of 10, the lowest in the range, while definition and sustain climb to 9. The result is a lower, wider sound that keeps the raw texture of the laser cuts but lasts much longer than the small EFX.
It is the EFX that plays most like a regular crash, except that the burst has grit.

|---|---|---|---|
| Zildjian | A Custom EFX | 20" | Large, dry, bright effect |

Frequently asked questions
- Can you ride an effects crash?
- On a 20" like this one, yes, for short passages: its definition is rated 9 out of 10. The sound stays dirty and wide, though, closer to an effect than to a ride.
- China or vented crash: which one?
- A china has an upturned edge and a very aggressive, often long sound. The EFX keeps a crash shape: it mounts normally and its effect dies away faster.
- What should you do with a cracked cymbal?
- If the crack comes from a manufacturing defect, Zildjian's two-year warranty applies; in Canada, the claim goes through the dealer. A dropped or abused cymbal is not covered.
