Shure

The Shure A25D is the clip that holds a mic with a handle of about 3/4 inch, or 25 to 30 mm, on a mic stand. It is the one Shure packs in the SM58 and SM57 boxes: replacing it means getting back exactly the original grip.

What sets it apart

  • For handles of about 25 to 30 mm in diameter
  • Swivel clip, described by Shure as break-resistant
  • GM3858 thread adapter included
  • Supplied as standard with the SM58, the SM57 and the Beta 87A

The original clip of Shure's most common mics

Shure ships the A25D with the SM58 and the SM57, under the name swivel stand adapter, and with the Beta 87A. It is also part of the PGADRUMKIT5 drum mic kit, where Shure calls it break-resistant. A clip lost during teardown or cracked after a fall is therefore replaced by the same part, with no adaptation.

Check the diameter before buying

Shure intends it for handles of about 3/4 inch and names the PGA48, PGA57, PGA58, PGA81, SM48, SM57, SM58, SM94, SM137, 565, 545, Beta 57, Beta 58, KSM8 and KSM9. A mic that is clearly thinner or wider calls for another clip.

Frequently asked questions

Does an A25D clip come with the SM58?
Yes. Shure lists the A25D in the SM58 box contents, as it does for the SM57 and the Beta 87A. The A25D sold on its own is the same part.
Are mic clips universal?
No: each one targets a diameter. The A25D fits handles of about 25 to 30 mm, those of the mics Shure lists, from the PGA48 to the KSM9.
The clip won't thread onto my stand: what should I do?
Shure ships the A25D with a thread adapter, the GM3858, without publishing its pitch. For stands with European threads, Shure includes with some mics, such as the Beta 58A, a 5/8-inch to 3/8-inch adapter, the 95A2050.
Is the A25D really unbreakable?
Shure describes it as break-resistant, not unbreakable. The manufacturer publishes neither the material nor any strength test.
