Vox

The Vox AC10C1 is a 10-watt tube guitar amp in a combo format, with a 10" speaker. It delivers the real Vox sound at livable volumes: the choice for players who want tubes at home or in a small room without deafening everyone.

What sets it apart

  • All tube: 2 × 12AX7 preamp, 2 × EL84 power
  • Celestion VX10 10" speaker
  • Top Boost tone circuit
  • Built-in reverb and master volume
  • A single channel, five knobs
  • 12.3 kg, easy to carry

One channel, five knobs

GAIN sets the preamp sensitivity, VOLUME the overall level. Low gain and high volume give a loud, clean sound; high gain and low volume give a fatter, overdriven tone at low volume. BASS and TREBLE shape the lows and highs, and REVERB adds ambience.

The Top Boost sound, small size

Vox fits the AC10C1 with its Top Boost circuit, for chiming cleans and punchy overdrive. The reverb ranges from subtle ambience to a bigger effect, for surf for instance.

Easier to carry than an AC15, it sits between the AC4 and the AC15 in the range.

Adding an external cab

The EXTERNAL SPEAKER jack mutes the internal speaker and takes a 16 Ω cabinet rated at least 10 W. Use a speaker cable, never a shielded instrument cable, and connect it with the amp off.

Frequently asked questions

Is the AC10C1 too loud for home?
It has a master volume: high gain and low volume give an overdriven sound at a low level, according to the Vox manual.
Is the reverb a spring?
Vox describes it as a digital spring-type reverb, set with a single knob.
Can I connect a footswitch?
No, its rear panel only has an external speaker jack and the mains inlet.
Can I add an external cab?
Yes, a 16 Ω cabinet rated at least 10 W, which then replaces the internal speaker.
Is there a blue and cream edition?
Vox made a limited blue and cream edition with a vintage logo; the specifications are the same.
