Vox AC15C1 15W 1x12" Greenback Tube Guitar Combo Amp
The Vox AC15C1 is an all-tube 15-watt guitar amp, in a combo with a 12" Celestion Greenback speaker. It offers the Normal and Top Boost channels, reverb and tremolo: everything you need to play venues or studios with the British EL84 tube sound.
What sets it apart
- Normal and Top Boost channels
- Built-in reverb and tremolo
- Two EL84 power tubes, 12AX7 preamp
- 12" Celestion G12M Greenback speaker
- Tone Cut in the power stage and master volume
- Standby switch to spare the tubes
Two channels, two characters
The Normal channel has a single volume knob: the higher it goes, the thicker the sound. The Top Boost channel adds very interactive bass and treble controls; Vox suggests starting at noon and adjusting by ear. Set low, it gives the chiming clean that made the AC15's name.
Reverb, tremolo and Tone Cut
Reverb is set with a level knob shared by both channels. Tremolo has its own speed and depth. The Tone Cut, placed in the power stage, works opposite to a treble knob: turned clockwise, it removes high frequencies.
A VFS2A footswitch, sold separately, turns reverb and tremolo on by foot.
Using it well
Switch on POWER, wait 2 to 3 minutes, then switch STANDBY: the tubes last longer. The EXTENSION jack adds a 16 Ω cabinet in parallel; the EXTERNAL jack mutes the internal speaker for an 8 or 16 Ω cabinet.
