The Vox amPlug 3 Bass is a miniature bass amp that slips into your instrument's jack and plays through headphones. It solves a problem every bassist knows: practising without shaking the neighbours' walls, while keeping a classic, round and defined bass tone.

A versatile bass tone
Vox describes channel 1 as a standard, wide-range bass amp sound that serves pop and jazz equally well. Channel 2 adds a fat, punchy overdrive for rock. GAIN, TONE and VOLUME are all you need to find the right balance.
The compressor, a bassist's tool
It's the only amPlug 3 with a compressor: it evens out loud and soft notes for a steadier attack. The FX/RHYTHM lever sets how much you get. The other three effects, chorus, delay and reverb, are chosen with the same lever.
The rhythms lean on groove: rock, jazz, two pop patterns, blues, two funk patterns and metal, from 40 to 240 BPM.

- It plugs into any guitar, but its channels are designed for bass. For guitar, Vox makes the amPlug 3 AC30, UK Drive, US Silver, Boutique and High Gain.
- Can I connect it to an amp or a speaker?
- The headphone jack can feed a mixer or a recorder, according to the manual. Turn down the connected device first.
- Will it fit a bass with a recessed jack?
- Its plug rotates; you set it to match the angle of the bass's output jack.
- Do wireless headphones work?
- No, the amPlug 3 Bass has no Bluetooth. You need wired 1/8" headphones.
