Vox

The Vox amPlug 3 Modern Bass is a headphone bass amp built for today's sounds: a clear, bright clean, then an edgy high-gain distortion. It's aimed at rock, metal and fusion bassists who want to rehearse their aggressive parts without hauling out the amp.

What sets it apart

  • Channel 1 clear and bright for slap and pick playing
  • Channel 2 with an edgy high-gain distortion
  • Stereo chorus, delay and reverb
  • Metal, funk and fusion rhythms, plus a metronome
  • AUX jack for a backing track
  • Two AAA batteries, 40 g

Two channels for modern bass

The first channel stays clear and bright, with the definition fast notes need. The second pushes a high-gain distortion with bite, designed for heavy styles. Vox presents it as the contemporary choice in the series, next to the more classic amPlug 3 Bass.

The right rhythm to rehearse with

The nine patterns cover rock, blues, two pop variations, metal, funk, fusion and jazz, plus a metronome. Tempo runs from 40 to 240 BPM and is set by tapping TAP.

If channel 2 gets too wild, Vox reminds you to watch the volume: some noise and feedback can appear depending on your settings.

Frequently asked questions

How is it different from the amPlug 3 Bass?
The Bass aims for a classic tone with a compressor; the Modern Bass offers a brighter clean and a high-gain distortion, without a compressor.
Can I use it with a bass that has a recessed jack?
The swivelling plug adjusts to the jack; Vox recommends setting it to suit the instrument.
Can I connect Bluetooth earbuds?
No, there's no wireless connection: use wired headphones.
Can I record what I play?
Yes, a CTIA-compliant 1/8" TRRS cable links the AUX jack to a phone or tablet; the recording is mono.
