Marshall AS50D 50W 2x8" Acoustic Combo Amp
The Marshall AS50D is a 50-watt, two-channel acoustic combo amp: one channel for the guitar or any instrument with a pickup, one for a mic or an external source. It solves the small-room problem of singing while you play, with no PA to set up.
What sets it apart
- Two channels with independent EQ
- XLR input with phantom power
- Built-in chorus and reverb
- Anti-feedback: phase, notch filter and frequency control
- Emulated DI output and line output
- Two 8" speakers and a tweeter
One channel for the instrument, one for the voice
Channel 1 has a high-impedance input made for piezo or magnetic pickups, with volume, bass and treble. Channel 2 takes a dynamic or phantom-powered mic through the XLR, a source through the RCA phono inputs, or another instrument, drum machine or keyboard through its jack.
Both channels work at the same time: guitar in one, voice in the other.
Effects and loop
The chorus can be assigned to channel 1, channel 2 or both, with speed and depth. The reverb has a level and a balance between channels; that balance also acts on the parallel effects loop, where you insert your pedals.
A footswitch jack on the back lets you switch the reverb and chorus on and off by foot.
Fighting feedback
An amplified acoustic guitar starts howling quickly near an amp. The AS50D offers a phase switch for low frequencies, then a notch filter that removes the frequency you pick with the frequency knob.
To the desk or the recorder
The emulated DI output sends your sound to a mixing desk or a recorder; the line output is for home recording or another device. The combo weighs 14.1 kg and its power cable is detachable.

Frequently asked questions
- Does the XLR input supply phantom power?
- Yes. Marshall states that channel 2's mic input supplies phantom power, for a condenser mic.
- Can I plug in the guitar and the mic at the same time?
- Yes, both channels work together, each with its own bass, treble and volume.
- How do I set the anti-feedback?
- Try the phase switch first. If the howl remains, engage the notch filter and turn the frequency knob until it disappears.
- Which footswitch should I use?
- Marshall specifies the PEDL-91003, sold separately, for the reverb and chorus.
