D'Addario Micro Soundhole Tuner
The Micro Soundhole PW-CT-15 is a chromatic tuner that tucks into the soundhole of an acoustic guitar or ukulele. The audience never sees it; the player simply glances down to read the screen hidden under the strings.

Why the soundhole
On an acoustic, the soundboard is the part that moves the most. The Micro Soundhole grips the edge of the soundhole and picks up that motion with a piezo transducer instead of relying on the headstock. The result is a quick response and a clean headstock for photos, the stage or video shoots.
Vince Gill and Trey Hensley, quoted by D'Addario, use it for exactly that reason: the screen stays visible to the player, and the guitar's headstock stays bare.
What to check before buying
The clip takes a soundboard up to 3.81 mm thick: that is the one measurement to check on the instrument. The reference runs from 410 to 480 Hz, and holding the button down scrolls through values quickly.

- Does it work on a ukulele?
- Yes: D'Addario designs it for acoustic guitars, ukuleles and other acoustic instruments, as long as the top is no thicker than 3.81 mm.
- Can you tune an electric guitar with an acoustic tuner?
- Not with this one. It needs a soundhole to clip into and a soundboard that vibrates. A solid-body electric has neither, so a headstock tuner is the better fit.
- How do you read the screen?
- The manual shows three states: in tune, almost in tune and out of tune. Play one string at a time and turn the tuning machine until it reads in tune.
