What the lineup says about the intended setup
A five-piece kit normally calls for two tom stands, three cymbal stands, a snare stand and a hi-hat stand: seven bases on the floor, sometimes eight.
By giving each tom and its cymbal to the same stand, you are down to five bases. The drummer gets room for their legs back, and the hardware case becomes something one person can carry.
Floor-mounted toms, and why it is a sound decision
Holding the toms on floor stands rather than on a mount attached to the bass drum spares the shell any extra drilling and any mechanical contact. The bass drum vibrates without being restrained, and the toms pass nothing on to it.
This setup takes a little longer to put together. In exchange, the bass drum shell stays free of any drilling or load, which shows mostly in how the low end sustains.
Only one separate cymbal stand, and that is intentional
The pack includes only one independent cymbal stand, because the two combination stands each already hold one. The final count is therefore three cymbals on stands, not counting the hi-hat.
It is the common setup — hi-hat, ride and two crashes — and the one that leaves the most room to grow: you can always add a stand, whereas an extra base cannot be put away.
