The hi-hat for a percussionist sitting on the instrument
A cajon player sits on the box they are playing. Their feet rest on the floor, and there is no room for a full-size hi-hat stand: the tube would rise in front of them and the cymbal would end up at hand height.
A low hi-hat fits under the leg, next to the cajon. The foot reaches the footboard without lifting, and the cymbal sounds a few centimetres off the floor, out of the way of the hands. Cajon and hi-hat become a real small kit.
What height does to the sound
Two cymbals closing near the floor do not sound like those on a tall hi-hat. The floor reflects part of the sound, the attack thickens, and the sizzle becomes shorter and drier.
That sound has its own value: it slips under a voice or an acoustic guitar without taking the space a regular hi-hat would. Many drummers add one to their full kit for that colour alone.
A smooth drive for a short stroke
On a low stand, the pull rod is short and the foot travel is reduced. A drive that is too abrupt would make the motion all or nothing.
The Glide Track system smooths the start and makes the closing progressive despite the short travel. You can play a half-open sound, which is no small feat at this height.

- Are cymbals included?
- No. The set includes the stand and its nylon carrying bag; hi-hat cymbals are chosen and bought separately.
- Can I mount any hi-hat cymbals on it?
- The cymbal seat takes standard pairs. Very heavy models do, however, reduce responsiveness over such a short stroke.
- Can you play a low boy hi-hat standing up?
- This stand is designed for a seated player. Standing, the cymbal ends up too far below your body.
- Does the stand slide on a polished stage?
