The 9303 is a snare drum stand with a contoured basket for small drums, from 10 to 12 in. Its arms follow a tighter curve than a standard basket: the contact points actually touch the drum instead of pinching it by its edges.

Why a small drum needs a different basket
A standard snare basket opens for a 14 in drum. Closed as far as it goes on a 10 in drum, it no longer holds it by the sides but by the tips of its arms, with short contact and an uncertain grip. The drum turns on the first hard stroke.
The curve on the 9303 is drawn around the small diameter. Each arm makes contact over a greater length, the pressure is spread out, and the drum stays where you put it. The reversible knob closes the opening a little further for borderline cases.
A secondary stand as much as a main one
A piccolo, a 10 in timbale, an auxiliary snare to the left of the hi-hat: these drums are often added late, once the rest of the kit is already set up. The offset basket lets you slip them into leftover space, between two cymbal stands.
This is where hinged memory locks really earn their keep: a position found to the millimetre between two other stands cannot be found again by eye the next day.
The detail the mics can hear
The tubes are lined with plastic inserts. A hollow steel tube rings: placed a few centimetres from a snare mic, it sends back a thin metallic resonance you only notice in the headphones, once the take is over. The insert breaks up that resonance.
