DW 9900 Double Tom Stand
The 9900 is a double tom stand for suspended toms: two ball-joint arms rise from a single stand and hold the drums off the bass drum. No hardware touches the big drum, and there is nothing to drill in a shell you would rather keep intact.

What the bass drum gains by carrying nothing
A bolted tom mount goes through the bass drum and ties it to whatever it carries. Many drummers switch to a tom stand for that reason alone: they want the big drum to carry nothing.
The other reason is more down to earth: an undrilled bass drum resells better and ages better. A shell that has never been drilled keeps all its options open, including becoming a floor tom one day.
The ball joint, two adjustments in one
A ball joint lets the arm turn in every direction at once: tilt toward the drummer, rotation around the stand, side angle. You bring the drum exactly where your hand falls, then tighten once.
The downside is well known: a ball joint that is not tight enough slips. Hence the oversized joints and the memory locks, which let you find your setting again even after a poor tightening.
