DW 9907CRL Clamp-On Bass Drum Spur, Left Side
The 9907CRL is a clamp-on bass drum spur, designed for the left side of the drum. Its clamp closes around the hoop and its spur points forward, so it takes the load of a kit whose weight is concentrated on that side.

Why this is often the side you need
On a right-handed kit, the hi-hat and snare sit on the drummer's left, but the imbalance shows on the audience side. When a tom holder, a cymbal boom arm or an accessory arm loads that side, the drum tries to pivot that way.
A spur on the correct side works in compression: it sends back to the floor the share of the load that was unbalancing the drum. On the wrong side, it does nothing and gets in the way.
The pair, when it makes sense
Some drummers mount both versions. That makes sense on a very small drum, or on a drum whose pedal is played hard: the two front supports then frame the drum and keep it from drifting sideways as well as from rolling.
On a standard-size bass drum with its original spurs, one is almost always enough, on the loaded side.
Nothing to drill, and that matters
A drilled shell never becomes intact again. A clamp-on spur tightens onto the hoop, comes off before the drum goes back in its case, and leaves the shell exactly as it found it. It is the solution to favour on a vintage or borrowed instrument.
