Clamping instead of stacking: what you get
A DogBone clamp holds two tubes against each other. It therefore adds no height: it relies on what is already there and brings the boom arm out to the side.
The cymbal ends up level with the toms or just above, pulled out to the side. That is exactly what you want for a splash placed between the drums, a small crash within immediate reach, or an effects cymbal you hit with the tip of the stick without raising your arm.
Choosing between two ways to add a cymbal
