DW SMMG-2 Mega Clamp, Adjustable V-Clamp on 1 in × 12 in Tube
The SMMG-2 is an angle-adjustable V-clamp mounted at the end of a 1 in × 12 in tube. Instead of clamping two parts against each other, it moves them apart: you use it when what you want to mount has to sit a foot away from the anchor point, and nowhere else.

The stand is in the right place, the room is not
A solid anchor point often exists, but in the wrong place: the column is where you need height, not where you need to put the accessory. Clamping directly onto it puts the part against the column, in the path of the sticks or against a drum.
The 12 in tube solves this by moving the mounting point without moving the stand. You stay anchored in the same spot and work 30 cm away from it.
Why the angle adjusts at the end and not at the base
Putting the adjustment at the end of the tube gives a freedom that an adjustment at the base does not: you choose how the mounted part is oriented without changing the direction of the offset.
In practice, you can first decide where the accessory should be, and only then how it should be tilted. The two decisions no longer interfere with each other, which cuts setup time considerably.
Twelve inches, and the leverage that comes with them
An offset of a foot creates real leverage. A heavy percussion piece at the end of this tube puts far more strain on the anchor point than a part clamped right against it.
The rule is simple: the heavier the load, the further the tube should be slid in and the closer the anchor should be to a leg or a bar junction. The tube slides in as far as you like, and there is no need to use all 12 in.

- Do I have to use the whole tube?
- No. The tube slides into the receiving clamp as far as you like: the 12 in are a maximum, not a requirement.
- What can the end clamp take?
- Anything from 1/2 in to 1.25 in: an arm rod, an accessory tube, a percussion holder.
- Is it rigid enough for a tom?
- A tom at the end of an offset needs a very solid anchor. For a heavy load, it is better to slide the tube in and bring the anchor closer to a load-bearing point.
- Does the memory lock go on the tube or on the clamp?
- It marks the engagement, meaning the length of tube left outside. That is the setting you want to find exactly the same at the next setup.
