DW SMTA105 L-Arm, 1/2 in to 10.5 mm, 2-Pack

The quiet problem of diameters
Drum hardware has never had a single standard. One clamp takes a rod of one size, a percussion mount expects another, and the difference comes down to two millimetres — enough that nothing holds, too little to see by looking.
A dual-diameter arm deals with that mismatch at the source. It offers the right diameter at each end, which avoids makeshift shims: a piece of rubber, wrapped tape, an improvised washer. Those fixes last a night and give way at the worst moment.
What knurling does under clamping
A smooth rod is held by friction alone. You have to tighten hard, and the rod still ends up slowly turning in its socket under repeated hits.
A knurled surface offers edges. The locking screw seats into them instead of sliding over them, and rotation is prevented mechanically. The clamp can stay moderate, which spares both the rod and the part holding it.
Why the memory locks are 1/2 in
The two memory locks included match the thick section of the arm, the one that goes into the clamp. That is where the insertion depth is set, and so the final height of the accessory.
On the thin side, the position is set by the mount's own clamp. There is nothing to memorize on that side, and an extra memory lock would serve no purpose there.
