PreSonus Eris Studio 5 5.25" Active Studio Monitor
The PreSonus Eris Studio 5 is a 5.25-inch active studio monitor, the size that bridges the desk and the real studio: enough bass to mix without guessing, compact enough for a room at home, and ready to take a subwoofer later on.
What sets it apart
- 5.25 in. woofer and 1 in. silk-dome tweeter
- 80 W of Class AB biamplification
- 48 Hz to 20 kHz response, 102 dB SPL peak
- 120 x 60 degree EBM waveguide
- Low cut at 80 or 100 Hz to integrate a subwoofer
- Automatic standby after 40 minutes
The middle of the Eris Studio range
With 80 W split between the two ways (45 W for the low end, 35 W for the highs), the Eris Studio 5 reaches down to 48 Hz without a subwoofer and hits 102 dB peak at one metre. That is enough to judge a bass line in a room at home.
The 292 mm tall cabinet stays reasonable on a stand or a shelf.
Growing into a 2.1 system
The low cut, set at 80 or 100 Hz with a -12 dB per octave slope, removes the bottom of the spectrum from the monitors when you add a subwoofer: each one works in its own range.
The high and mid controls, ±6 dB, and Acoustic Space round out the adjustment to the room.
