Zildjian FX 7" Blast Bell Effects Bell
The FX Blast Bell is a 7" effects bell with a raw finish, designed to mount on top of a ride. It gives the drummer a bell target easier to hit than the bell of the ride, with a darker sound that blends into the mix while staying audible.
What sets it apart
- Designed with drummer Matt Greiner
- A darker take on the Zil-Bel, with a lower shape
- Short sustain, dark overtones
- Definition rated 10 out of 10 by Zildjian
A bell that sits on the ride
Playing the bell of a ride takes precision: the area is small, and a misplaced hit changes the sound. The Blast Bell solves that. Mounted on the same post as the ride, it offers a dedicated surface, easier to aim for, that gives the same sound hit after hit.
Compared with the Zil-Bel, Zildjian gave it a lower shape and a raw finish. The result is a darker, shorter note that cuts without dominating.

Frequently asked questions
- Blast Bell or Zil-Bel?
- The Zil-Bel is Zildjian's classic effects bell. The Blast Bell is a darker variation, with a lower shape and a raw finish, that dies away faster.
- Why a separate bell instead of the ride bell?
- For consistency. A ride's bell is a small area; a Blast Bell mounted above it gives an easier target and the same sound on every hit.
- What is a dark-sounding bell used for?
- To mark time without cutting as much as a bright bell. The Blast Bell stays audible in a busy mix but sits better with the guitars.
