Between bell and chime
Zildjian drew on sounds used in traditional Eastern ceremonies. The conical cup and hammered flange produce a complex blend of overtones: the note has the attack of a bell, but it sings for a moment, like a small chime.
It is at home in the heaviest music, where it cuts between two riffs, and anywhere you want an unusual, musical colour.
