Shure GLXD16+ Digital Wireless Guitar Pedal System
The Shure GLXD16+ is a digital wireless system for guitar and bass whose receiver, the GLXD6+, takes the form of a pedal that sits on the pedalboard, with a built-in tuner. It also includes the GLXD1+ bodypack transmitter, the WA305 instrument cable and a USB-C charger.
What sets it apart
- GLXD6+ pedal receiver in aluminum alloy, powered from 9 to 15 V DC (400 mA minimum)
- Needle or strobe tuner, accurate to ±1 cent, from F#0 to C8
- Wired 1/4" input: play with a cable or wireless, and switch between the two in A/B mode
- WA305 cable with a threaded TA4F connector that will not come loose while playing
- Seven-segment transmitter battery meter, visible from the floor
One more pedal on the board
The GLXD6+ measures 138 x 95 x 48 mm and weighs 560 g. It accepts 9 to 15 V DC, centre positive or centre negative, which makes it compatible with most pedalboard power supplies; Shure recommends an isolated output of at least 400 mA, and supplies the PS24 power supply. With several effects, the guide asks that the receiver be placed first in the chain. Its 1/4" output then feeds the next pedal or the amp.
A tuner, and an input for the cable
A press on the footswitch enters tuner mode. The display can be set to needle or strobe, the reference pitch can be offset from 432 to 447 Hz, and the tuner follows an instrument detuned up to 5 steps sharp or 6 steps flat. Four output modes decide what the sound does while tuning: Live, Mute, Both or A/B.
The INSTR IN input takes a guitar connected by cable. Shure specifies that it does not load the signal and that it passes it through even if the pedal loses power. In A/B mode, the footswitch toggles between the wireless guitar and the wired guitar, handy for changing instruments between two songs.
The transmitter and its cable
The GLXD1+ slides onto the strap or the belt. The 0.9 m WA305 cable, rubber-coated to reduce handling noise, carries a gold-plated straight Neutrik 1/4" connector and a REAN TA4F connector with a threaded collar that screws onto the transmitter. Shure recommends it in particular for Strat-type guitars, whose jack is recessed.
Charging without a charging bay
Unlike the other receivers in this Shure series, the tabletop and rack models, the pedal has no charging bay. That is why Shure adds the SBC10-USBC wall charger to the box, which charges the SB904 battery through the transmitter's USB-C port: 15 minutes give about 1.5 hours of playing, 3 hours lead to 11.5 hours. While charging, the transmitter does not transmit.

Frequently asked questions
- What power supply does the GLXD6+ pedal need?
- 9 to 15 V DC and at least 400 mA. Shure accepts centre-positive or centre-negative supplies and recommends an isolated output on a pedalboard. The PS24 power supply is included.
- Can two guitars be connected to the GLXD16+?
- Yes. In A/B mode, the footswitch toggles between the wireless transmitter and a guitar plugged by cable into the INSTR IN input. The receiver also accepts two linked transmitters, but only one can be on at a time.
- How do you charge the GLXD16+ transmitter?
- Through the transmitter's USB-C port, with the supplied SBC10-USBC charger: the pedal has no charging bay. A full 3-hour charge gives up to 11.5 hours of playing.
- What is the latency of the GLXD16+?
- It depends on the channel group chosen on the receiver: Shure publishes 4.53 ms in groups 1 and 3, and 8 ms in group 2. A 4.53 ms group is therefore the one to favour when responsiveness under the fingers matters.
- Does the GLXD16+ work for bass?
- Yes. The tuner covers F#0 to C8, which includes the low strings of a bass, and Shure presents the system for guitar and bass alike.
