Zildjian K Ride 20" Ride Cymbal
The K Ride 20" is a medium-weight ride cymbal with a dark voice that keeps a clear stick sound and opens into a low crash when you catch the edge. It is the go-anywhere ride of the K family: the one you can bring to any gig without wondering whether it will fit.
What sets it apart
- All-round ride, comfortable in almost any setting
- Traditional random K hammering
- Very low curvature for a low crash sound
- Smooth lathing that adds a little give under the stick
One of the first Ks made in the United States
When Zildjian began making K cymbals in the United States in 1982, the K Ride was among the very first models. Zildjian still describes it as a safe choice for any gig: a simple design, no special effects, built to hold a groove.
Dark without turning muddy
On Zildjian's Sound Lab, the 20" sits mid-scale for brightness (5 out of 10) yet rises to 7 for definition and sustain. Put simply: a dark colour, and every stroke still stands out. The medium weight accounts for that clarity, and the very low curvature gives the crash a low, grounded quality you do not get from a more arched ride.

Frequently asked questions
- A ride or K ride: what's the difference?
- Mostly the hammering. Zildjian explains that A cymbals are hammered in an even pattern, which gives a higher, brighter sound, while Ks get random hammering that lowers the profile, darkens the overtones and adds warmth.
- K Ride 20" or 22"?
- Both have the same definition and sustain (7 out of 10). The 22" is a notch darker (brightness 4 versus 5) and a little broader. The 20" stays easier to place and to control.
- How heavy is the K Ride 20"?
- Zildjian lists it as medium weight. The maker does not publish a weight in grams for this model.
