Novation Launchkey Mini 37 MK4 37-Key Mini MIDI Keyboard Controller
The Novation Launchkey Mini 37 MK4 is a compact 37-mini-key MIDI keyboard controller that weighs under a kilogram and slides into a backpack alongside your laptop. Three octaves for writing on the bus, at the cottage or on a corner of the kitchen table, with pads, encoders and a MIDI output for a hardware synth.
What sets it apart
- 37 synth-action mini keys: three octaves in under 48 cm
- 0.98 kg, powered by a single USB-C cable
- 16 RGB pads with polyphonic aftertouch
- Pitch and modulation touch strips
- MIDI output on a 3.5 mm TRS Type A jack
- 30 scales, three chord modes, arpeggiator with step editor
Made to travel
The Mini 37 is 47.8 cm wide and 4.9 cm tall. The pitch and modulation wheels are replaced by two flat touch strips, so nothing sticks out of the case. The USB-C cable is all it needs for power.
Mini keys take a little getting used to for piano-trained hands, but three octaves are already enough to play bass and chords together.
A pocket studio
The 16 pads play drums and launch clips, and they respond to pressure note by note. Eight endless encoders adjust instruments and the mix, and the OLED screen shows the name and value of whatever you touch.
Away from the computer, the mini-jack MIDI output drives a synth or drum machine; a Type A adapter connects it to a 5-pin DIN socket.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I connect the Launchkey Mini 37 MK4 to a synth with a DIN socket?
- Its MIDI output is a 3.5 mm TRS Type A mini-jack. A TRS Type A to 5-pin DIN adapter links it to the MIDI input of a synth or drum machine.
- Which version of Ableton Live do I need?
- Launchkey MK4 integration is built into Live 11.3.26 and later, as well as Live 12.0.25 and later.
- How does the chord mapping mode work?
- Choose a scale; each pad then triggers a chord from that scale. The encoders add arpeggiation, inversions or a separate bass note played on the first press.
- How do I update the Launchkey Mini 37 MK4?
- Through Novation Components, as an app or in a Web MIDI browser such as Chrome, Opera or Edge.
