Latin Percussion

The LP229 Mambo is a black 8-1/2-inch cowbell, made in the U.S.A., with a deep pitch and dry overtones. LP built it with the timbalero in mind, and it fits timbale mounts from 3/8 to 1/2 in.

What sets it apart

  • Deep pitch, dry overtones
  • Raised playing surface that is easy to hit
  • Patented self-aligning eye-bolt
  • Made in the U.S.A.

The bell above the timbales

On a timbale setup, the mambo bell carries the pattern that drives the whole section. LP gave the LP229 a sharp, raised playing surface that is easy to catch with a stick between shell strokes, and an engineered mouth shape that works on the tone.

Its note is deep and dry: it does not ring on and leaves room for the timbales and congas. The patented eye-bolt lines itself up on any rod from 3/8 to 1/2 in. LP also offers a Steve Gadd signature version, the 8-inch LP229SG.
