Zildjian L80 Low Volume 16" Crash Cymbal
The L80 Low Volume Crash 16" is a thin, low-volume crash cymbal, up to 80% quieter than a traditional crash. Sold on its own, it adds a second crash to an L80 set or replaces a worn piece.
What sets it apart
- 16" crash, thin weight
- Up to 80% less volume
- The feel of a real acoustic cymbal
- Sold individually, to complete an L80 set
A second crash for the practice kit
The smaller L80 packs have one crash, or none at all. Adding this 16" lets you work on moving between two crashes, left and right, as on a real drum set. Its thin weight makes it open quickly, even when played softly.
Matte finish, minimal care
The sandblasted, matte surface may hold fingerprints. Zildjian recommends wiping it with a clean, dry cloth, and only that. If you don't wipe it, a natural oxidation develops: a purely cosmetic matter.

Frequently asked questions
- Low-volume or regular cymbal?
- A regular cymbal remains the choice for the stage and for recording. The L80 is for places where volume is a problem: Zildjian states up to 80% less, with the same feel under the stick.
- Evans dB One or Zildjian L80?
- Both aim for the same goal, about 80% less noise. Evans uses a spiral-perforated stainless alloy. Zildjian does not publish the alloy of the L80s, which have a sandblasted, matte finish.
- Thin or medium crash?
- A thin crash speaks faster and softer; a medium crash carries more. This L80 is thin: it opens at the lightest touch, which suits low-volume practice well.
