Zildjian

The L80 Low Volume China 18" is a low-volume china cymbal, up to 80% quieter than a traditional china. It brings the trashy snap of a china into a room where you can't play loud.

What sets it apart

  • 18" china, medium-thin weight
  • Up to 80% less volume
  • Adds to an existing L80 set
  • Also works for building stacks and effects

The newest addition to the range

After the success of the packs, Zildjian made L80s available individually: hi-hats, crash, crash ride, ride, splash, and then this 18" china. It is designed to fit into an L80 set and keep a volume consistent with the rest of the practice kit.

Stack it to invent

Zildjian suggests using L80s as stackers or as hi-hat components. Set on another L80 cymbal, it opens the door to effect sounds you can work on without raising the volume.

Frequently asked questions

What is a china cymbal used for?
For short, trashy accents, more aggressive than a crash. In practice, it is used to work on end-of-phrase hits and the fast patterns of heavy music.
Are china cymbals loud?
A regular china, yes, very. This one is low volume: Zildjian states up to 80% less, which makes it playable in an apartment.
What is the difference between a china and a crash?
A crash gives a rounder, longer burst. A china gives a drier, trashier accent. Many drummers add a china next to their crashes to vary their accents.
