Marshall MS-4 Micro Stack Battery-Powered Mini Guitar Amp, Black
The Marshall MS-4 Micro Stack is a battery-powered mini guitar amp and the tallest of Marshall's micro stacks: 26 cm high, twice the height of the MS-2. Set it on your desk or a shelf, pick the clean or the overdriven voice, and play without waking the house.
What sets it apart
- The tallest Marshall micro stack: 110 × 260 × 60 mm
- Choice of "On" or "Overdrive" voice
- Volume and tone controls
- 1/4 in. headphone output for silent practice
- 9 V battery or 9 V adapter (sold separately)
- 0.45 kg: moves from room to room with no effort
A stack that fits on a shelf
The stack is the image people have associated with Marshall for decades: a head sitting on cabinets, taller than the player. The MS-4 keeps the idea at a smaller scale. It stands 260 mm high and weighs under half a kilo, light enough to live next to your computer or on the corner of a dresser.
It is a real amp, not just a decoration: an instrument input, volume, tone and a voice selector, which is all you need to run a chord progression or a riff between tasks.
Two voices, one battery, one pair of headphones
The selector switches from the normal "On" voice to the "Overdrive" voice for a distorted sound. The tone control then sets how bright either one sounds. It all runs on a 9 V battery or a 9 V adapter, which Marshall does not supply.
When it's time to keep things quiet, the 1/4 in. headphone output takes over: plug in your headphones and keep playing without bothering anyone.

Frequently asked questions
- How many watts is the MS-4?
- Marshall lists two different figures on its own page. Without a reliable number, think of it by use: it's a practice amp for home and the office, not for playing with a drummer.
- What power supply does the MS-4 need?
- Marshall specifies a 9 V adapter, not included, or a 9 V battery. Check the polarity and the plug of any adapter before you buy it.
- Can you use headphones with the MS-4?
- Yes. The headphone output is a 1/4 in. jack; a 3.5 mm to 1/4 in. adapter lets you use phone earbuds.
