Marshall Origin50H 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head
The Marshall Origin50H is a 50 W tube guitar amp head built for the half stack: on a 4x12, it fills a room without relying on the PA, then drops to about 10 W or 5 W for rehearsal.
What sets it apart
- 50 W from two EL34s
- Powerstem: approx. 10 W or approx. 5 W
- Tilt, boost and a single, simple channel
- Switchable series effects loop
- 16 Ω and 8 Ω outputs, DI output
Power in reserve
A 50 W head on a 4x12 gives you volume and, above all, headroom: the clean sound stays clean longer before it breaks up. That's what helps the player strumming open chords next to a hard-hitting drummer.
The three speaker outputs (16 Ω, 8 Ω) take a 16 Ω 4x12 like the Origin 412A, or two cabs.
Quieter when you need it
At home or in the studio, Powerstem drops to about 10 W, then about 5 W. The two-way footswitch controls the gain boost and the effects loop.
The head weighs 11.8 kg and is 577 mm wide, the width of a 4x12 cab.

Frequently asked questions
- Origin50H or Origin20H: which one?
- The 50H offers 50, 10 or 5 W; the 20H offers 20, 3 or 0.5 W. For stages without PA, the 50H; for home and small rooms, the 20H.
- Does the Origin50H work with a 4x12?
- Yes. Plug a 16 Ω cab into the 16 Ω output, for example the Origin 412A.
- Does Powerstem change the tone?
- It reduces power by lowering the valve voltages. The goal is to keep the character of pushed valves at a lower volume.
