Shure SLXD14+ Digital Wireless Guitar and Bass System
The Shure SLXD14+ is a digital wireless system for guitar, bass or any other electric instrument: an SLXD1+ bodypack transmitter, an SLXD4+ half-rack receiver and the WA305 instrument cable, sold together. The player moves around the stage without a cord running back to the amp, and the signal travels as 24-bit digital audio in the G57 band, from 470 to 608 MHz.
What sets it apart
- WA305 cable included, 0.9 m: gold-plated straight plug on one end, locking TA4F connector on the other
- High-impedance transmitter input: 1 megohm, up to 8.2 dBV
- 2.8 ms of latency from the string to the receiver output
- Two transmitters can be linked to the same channel to switch instruments during a show
- Transmitter settings can be changed from the receiver, hands-off, through ShowLink Ease
The instrument cable is in the box
Shure ships the system with its WA305 cable, 0.9 m long and rubber-coated to reduce handling noise. On the instrument end, a straight 6.3 mm Neutrik plug with gold-plated contacts; on the transmitter end, a REAN TA4F connector with a threaded collar that screws on and won't pull out at the first sudden move. The straight plug suits Strat-type guitars, whose jack is recessed into the top.
Getting the sound of a regular cable
A guitarist wants the amp to see the same level as with a cord. Shure's guide gives the unity gain recipe: receiver gain at -18 dB, output set to line level, unbalanced 6.3 mm cable to the amp and transmitter offset at 0 dB. The transmitter accepts up to 8.2 dBV at its input, and the system's high-pass filter (160 Hz, 12 dB per octave) is off when it leaves the factory.
Two guitars, one receiver
For a show with instrument changes, Shure provides for linking two bodypack transmitters to the same receiver channel. Only one should be on at a time. If the two instruments don't come out at the same volume, each transmitter's offset function corrects the gap from 0 to 21 dB, in 3 dB steps. The second SLXD1+ transmitter is sold separately.
The G57 band and the Canadian notice
The system covers 138 MHz in one stretch, from 470 to 608 MHz. Shure lists this band under its United States, Canada and Latin America region. A frequency scan at the receiver finds a clear channel, then sends it to the transmitter. The guide reprints the notice from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada: the device operates without protection from interference, and a voluntary licence exists for anyone who wants that protection in the TV bands.

Frequently asked questions
- Which cable connects the guitar to the SLXD14+ transmitter?
- The included WA305: 0.9 m, straight 6.3 mm plug on the instrument end and threaded-collar TA4F on the transmitter end. Shure designs it mainly for electric guitar and bass.
- What is the latency of the SLXD14+?
- Shure rates the SLXD14+ at 2.8 ms. The previous generation of its digital wireless systems, SLX-D, was rated at 3.2 ms.
- What range should I plan for?
- The guide gives a working range of 100 m. Actual range depends on absorption, reflection and interference at the venue.
- What changed between the SLXD14 and the SLXD14+?
- According to Shure, audio quality is identical. The + model adds a 138 MHz tuning range, transmitter control through ShowLink Ease, AES-256 encryption, digital feedback reduction and latency brought down from 3.2 to 2.8 ms.
