Hohner Special 20 Harmonica, Key of High G
The Hohner Special 20 in high G (HG) is a 10-hole diatonic harmonica tuned an octave above the G Special 20: it's the highest key the model comes in. It plays a blues in D in second position, in a bright register that cuts through easily.
What sets it apart
- One octave above standard G
- High blues in D in second position
- Recessed plates, black ABS comb
- Brass reeds, snap case
The only key without a Country version
Hohner files high G separately, in its "high range." Hole 1 blow gives a G4, where the ordinary G starts at G3. Draw holes 1 to 4 and you hear a D chord an octave above a regular G harp: the blues in D takes on a clear, light colour.
One more quirk: Country tuning, which raises hole 5 draw by a semitone, is offered by Hohner in all twelve standard Special 20 keys, but not in high G. This one comes in Richter tuning only.
