Marshall Studio Vintage SV20C 1x10" Valve Combo Amp
The Marshall Studio Vintage SV20C is a 20-watt valve combo amp that packs the sound of the 1959 Super Lead into a single 15.9 kg box: the SV20H head's circuit, a 10-inch Celestion speaker and a switch that drops the output to 5 watts.
What sets it apart
- All in one: amp and speaker in the same cabinet
- 10-inch Celestion VT-Junior speaker
- EL34 valves in the power stage
- Power reduction from 20 W to 5 W
- Effects loop and DI output
- Outputs for adding an extension cabinet
A Plexi you carry under one arm
A head and a cabinet take two trips. The SV20C takes one: 500 mm wide, 460 mm tall, 15.9 kg with the speaker. Inside is the same circuit as the SV20H head, two EL34s and three ECC83s, with the High Treble and Normal channels you can jump to create your own blend.
The 10-inch and its limits
The speaker is a 10-inch Celestion VT-Junior, 16 ohms and 50 W. It sounds tighter than a 12-inch and suits home, studio and small rooms, especially with the amp raised off the floor or picked up by a microphone.
For a bigger sound, the speaker outputs let you add a cabinet, such as the SV112; the DI output sends the signal to a mixing desk.

Frequently asked questions
- Is a 10-inch speaker enough for gigging?
- In a small room, yes, especially with the amp raised or miked. For more size, add an extension cabinet on the speaker outputs.
- Can I plug in an SV112 cabinet?
- Yes. The internal speaker is 16 ohms and so is the SV112: together they make an 8-ohm load, to be connected to the matching output.
- In 5 W mode, is the combo still loud?
- Yes: it is a valve amp, and 5 W is still loud in a living room. The mode is mainly there to reach break-up sooner.
