What "more leverage" means under your foot
A pedal's footboard is a lever. The farther your foot's contact point is from the axle, the less force it takes to push the board all the way down — and the farther the beater travels for the same effort.
Lengthening the footboard therefore moves that contact point forward without changing anything in the mechanism. The manufacturer puts it plainly: more leverage, more power. At the same playing volume your calf works less; for the same effort the stroke comes out stronger.
Why the baseplate follows the footboard
You cannot lengthen a footboard on its own. It needs a baseplate that reaches under its end, otherwise the forward foot position has nothing underneath it, the footboard flexes and the hinge geometry is thrown off.
That is why the XF version is sold assembled, footboard and baseplate together. It is not an add-on accessory: it is a complete lower pedal, designed for the length it carries.
