The MCD2 XF is a chain-drive double kick pedal whose two footboards are longer than those of standard models. On a double pedal, the left foot gains the most from this: it works at an angle, and the extra surface gives it some margin.

The left foot does not sit like the right
On a double pedal, the right foot meets its footboard head-on, in line with your body. The left one comes in at an angle: it is offset to the outside, often with the knee more open, and it meets its footboard at a different angle.
Because of that asymmetry, the left foot rarely lands in the ideal spot. It slides forward or stays too far back. An extra inch of surface gives it a margin the right foot, which sits well, never needed.
Two long levers, the same tension
Lengthening both footboards changes the leverage on both sides at once. A pedal set up on short boards will therefore feel slightly stiffer at first after the change: your foot pushes farther from the axle and feels the spring more.
The fix is to back off both springs slightly, then play again. This readjustment takes five minutes and keeps you from deciding too quickly that the long board does not suit you.
Two long footboards and the hi-hat's space
Lengthening the left footboard moves it forward into an area already in demand: the one where the hi-hat stand puts its legs. That is where the conflict shows up on a tight setup, never on the right side.
The modified Contour heel keeps the footprint on the floor from growing, which solves part of the problem. For the rest, two moves are enough: turn the tripod legs away from the footboard's line, or switch to a two-legged hi-hat stand, which frees exactly the space the left half needs.
