Shure UA825 25 ft (7.5 m) BNC Coaxial Antenna Cable
The Shure UA825 is a 25-foot (7.5 m) coaxial cable, RG-8X/U type with 50 Ω impedance, fitted with BNC connectors at both ends. It links a remote antenna to a Shure wireless receiver when the receiver stays at front of house, far from the stage.
What sets it apart
- 50 Ω RG-8X/U cable, the impedance of Shure receiver antenna inputs
- BNC connectors at each end
- 25 feet: the length Shure recommends for RG-8X/U without an antenna amplifier
- Shure lists it as compatible with its ULX-D, QLX-D and SLX-D+ wireless systems and the BLX4R receiver
Why move an antenna
When the receiver cannot get closer to the transmitters, Shure advises bringing the antennas closer instead. They go away from large metal surfaces and computers, spaced 1 to 2 feet apart in UHF, and each one runs back to the receiver on its own cable.
Why 25 feet
Shure's FAQ sets 25 feet as the maximum length of RG-8X/U between a UHF antenna and the receiver, without an amplifier. This cable loses about 12 dB per 100 feet at 800 MHz: over 25 feet, loss stays near 3 dB, the threshold Shure usually considers acceptable.

Frequently asked questions
- How do you calculate the loss of a coaxial antenna cable?
- Shure offers an online tool for choosing cables and amplifiers for remote antennas, and points to cable-loss calculators. As a benchmark, RG-8X/U loses about 12 dB per 100 feet at 800 MHz.
- Can the antennas of any Shure receiver be mounted remotely?
- No. The quarter-wave antennas supplied with the BLX4R, the SLX-D and the standard ULX use the receiver chassis as part of the antenna: Shure says they must not be remote mounted. The half-wave antennas supplied with its QLX-D, ULX-D and Axient Digital digital systems can be.
- Does each antenna need its own cable?
- Yes. On a diversity receiver, both antennas go in the performance area and connect to the receiver through two separate coaxial cables.
